We ask that you arrive promptly at the
time you are scheduled.
Please wear comfortable clothing.
Abstain from wearing makeup, perfume, fragrant body lotions,
cologne or after-shave, since vapors from these scents may
interfere with the delivery of the laser beam.
Avoid drinking any products containing caffeine.
You will need to arrange for transportation. We recommend
you have someone you know assist you in getting
you home safely.
Expect to be at the Center for approximately one hour.
In The
Preoperative Area
Upon arrival, you will be escorted to
the preoperative area where the nurse on duty will greet
you and take care of you.
You will be asked to read and sign the
consent for surgery form. Should you have any questions,
be sure to ask the attending nurse prior to signing.
You will be given a mild sedative to relax
you, followed by a series of antibiotic eye drops, prior to
entering the laser suite. Anesthetic drops to numb the
cornea are instilled once you are in the laser suite.
In The Operating Room
Laser vision correction is performed
in a few small steps. Ordinarily, a patient is in the operating
room approximately 15-20 minutes.
The laser is programmed with your correction
before you even enter the laser room.
It will take a few minutes to position
you properly under the microscope.
The procedure itself will take no more
than 8-10 minutes.
